Mr. Utheza is a strategic, results oriented and hands-on executive involved with the launch and deployments of traditional and emerging software digital media platforms now used by more than 250 million consumers worldwide.
He currently consults for start-ups, large companies and standardization bodies in the fields of advertising infrastructure, digital video, content identification, discovery and metadata, big data for television and consumer services.
He has been involved in pay television, broadcast, cable, TelcoTV and satellite service deployments, licensing and marketing solutions ranging from middleware platforms, online and web services to content metadata platforms and over the top / 2nd screen applications.
As a senior executive with 20 years of experience in the digital media industry, Herve participated and led business development, corporate development, sales, sales operations and product marketing activities of small to medium size companies.
He most recently was President of Watchwith, a leader in content metadata management systems, with Google (Motorola) and Sony as investors (www.watchwith.com). The company powers the second screen experiences of NBCU.
There, he oversaw finance, operations, corporate, legal matters and developed the licensing program of the company.
From 2006 to 2008, Mr. Utheza has served as Vice-President and Executive Producer of TV Properties at ORB Networks, Inc (www.orb.com), in the place shifting and media remote access field, extending the reach of branded and personal content.
As an industry analyst, Mr. Utheza authored reports on IPTV distributed and published by The Diffusion Group (Austin, TX). Those reports received press coverage from BusinessWeek, CED Magazine, BroadbandDaily and more.
Until November 2003, Mr. Utheza was working at Liberate Technologies (IPO in 1999; later acquired by Comcast and Seachange). There, we held various executive positions in Corporate Development, Product Marketing, and Sales.
A member of the founding team at OpenTV (www.opentv.com; IPO in 1999; acquired by Kudelski Group), Mr. Utheza was its company's first contract and licensing manager, establishing its worldwide licensing policies and procedures. He played a lead role in OpenTV deployment agreements with BSkyB (News Corp.), British Interactive Broadcasting, Television Par Satellite in France, and Telia in Sweden, as well as the hardware manufacturers porting the OpenTV software. He also designed and implemented the company's intellectual property and patent filing strategies.
Mr. Utheza received his MBA with honors from Graduate Management School of HEC (Hautes Etudes Commerciales) in Paris, France (www.hec.fr) and holds a Bachelor of Science magna cum laude. He has spent 20 years in the Silicon Valley. He is a member of the Television Academy of Arts and Sciences.
