It is our pleasure to provide more information here on how to join the HEC alumni group on LinkedIN.
1/ What is LinkedIN and why an HEC group on LinkedIN?
LinkedIN is an online professional networking service, available free of charge. It caters to more than 25 million professionals, managers and executives of all industries worldwide. The system works on the principle of the “six degrees of separation”. Through LinkedIN and our newly created HEC group, you will be able to:
Invite your trusted professional contacts (HEC or not), and accept (or decline) invitations from others
More specifically, leverage the power of the HEC network to find and reach the new business contacts you need
Accelerate your career through referrals from HEC alumni
Know more than a name--view rich professional profiles from fellow HEC alumni
Let other HEC group members know what you have to offer to them and their contacts
Limit your network searches to other HEC alumni members only, if and when you wish to do so
The HEC alumni group, now with more than 3,200 members, is available to all students and graduates of all HEC programs: Grande Ecole, MBA (ex ISA), TRIUM, Mastères, PIMs, Doctorants etc, (regardless of whether they pay their dues at the Association or not), as well as members of the faculty and administration.
2/ How to become a LinkedIN member?
It is FREE to join both LinkedIN and its HEC group.
If you are not yet a member of LinkedIN, you will first need to join LinkedIN and create a profile of your professional career, your interests keywords and other information which will make it easier for you to search the network, and for others to find you. More information is available at www.linkedin.com
3/ How to become a member of the HEC Group on LinkedIN once you are a LinkedIN member?
3.1 if you have ALREADY added your mailhec.com, mailhec.net or triumemba.org email to your profile
b. your application will be automatically and immediately processed.
3.2 if you have NOT YET added your mailhec.com, mailhec.net or triumemba.org email to your profile
a. START BY adding your mailhec.com or mailhec.net or triumemba.org email to your LinkedIN profile. We CANNOT do this on your behalf - no need to email us your mailhec.com address. Go to your LinkedIN profile settings, and add it there, under "registered emails".
c. your application will be automatically and immediately processed.
3.3 if the automatic approval does not work
... and only then: you can write to us (click "contact managers") for manual verification and approval. We appreciate you going through the automated steps above first, to reduce the amount of manual work (we are volunteers, after all)
4/ I don't remember or have a mailhec.com alum email.
Please find more information about how to activate your HEC alum email
5/ Will updating my profile on LinkedIN update my profile with the Association database?
If you wish to add more email addresses to your profile, feel free to do so after accepting the invitation.
However, this will *not* update the records of the HEC alumni association (if you are a member thereof). If you are paying your dues to the Association, please update your records directly at www.groupehec.asso.fr
Only the profile information you wish to submit will be viewable by other LinkedIN or HEC group members. You are also always in control of that information and how much you wish to display.
7/ Manual approvals
Please try not to contact the Group Owner (me) or manager with a simple manual LinkedIN "in-mail".
By going through the automated process above, you are greatly helping: I am doing this as a volunteer, and appreciate your cooperation.
Only in case of technical difficulties will I process approval requests on a manual basis. I do this from time to time, so thanks in advance for your patience.
If you have to go through a manual request, please provide:
- the HEC program you attended - the graduation year - the page of the HEC alum directory where your name appears (if you have the directory) - any changes to your last name: you may appear in the HEC directory under a maiden, or composite name which you no longer use
8/ Personal connections
Finally, note that I only accept personal LinkedIN direct connections from people I have met.
We hope that you will find this tool beneficial. Please do not hesitate to let us know of any questions, suggestions or comments in the group discussion area.
